League Two Over 1.5 Goals — Ranked FIS and Confidence

Saturday 3 October 2026 · Published 10:53 BST · Pre-match report

Over 1.5 match goals · Saturday 3 October 2026

Accrington–Cheltenham leads the assessed FIS ranking. This report applies the eight components and thresholds in your supplied Over 1.5 Goals strategy to today’s eight scheduled League Two matches. The market needs at least two goals in the full match, including stoppage time.

The completed league results reconcile to 94 games and 240 goals. Team season records, latest five results, four-game venue splits and scoring/conceding frequencies are calculated directly from those results. 80 FIS points can be assessed; the remaining 20 are unresolved. The report ranks the assessed subtotals and gives full-score ranges rather than inventing missing xG, confirmed situation or value marks.

No match has a confirmed 80+ final FIS or a validated betting edge. Confidence labels describe the research evidence, not the probability of a winning bet. Exeter–Rotherham fails the recent-form rejection rule.

Ranked highest to lowest by assessed FIS

5 Chesterfield v Tranmere · 12:30 57.4 / 100 57.4–77.4 Moderate pattern / low betting confidence Below 80 even with missing marks
6 Crewe Alexandra v Bristol Rovers · 15:00 47.3 / 100 47.3–67.3 Low Below 80 even with missing marks
7 Salford City v Fleetwood · 15:00 43.9 / 100 43.9–63.9 Very low Pass: season rejection flag
8 Exeter City v Rotherham · 15:00 33.0 / 100 33.0–53.0 Very low Reject: recent rate <60%

These are incomplete FIS subtotals, not completed ratings. Missing components are unknown, not zero. The upper limit assumes all 20 unresolved marks were earned; it is not a forecast or an invitation to award them. Rank order can change when evidence arrives. Do not normalise an 80-point subtotal to 100, which would inflate eligibility.

The mean venue total is a descriptive statistic, not expected match goals. The league Over 1.5 rate is 72/94 = 76.60%. No club-specific record is inferred from the league rate. August results · September results · Venue tables.

1. Accrington v Cheltenham · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 73.0/100 · Confidence: Moderate pattern / low betting confidence.

The strongest combined season profile and a high-scoring venue environment put this first. Cheltenham’s consistent two-goal matches support the case, while Accrington’s recent 0–0 is a counterexample. Reported missing attackers and Cheltenham’s heavy defensive workload still need review. A short price can erase the apparent appeal.

Assessed components: A 25.0/25; B 20.0/20; C 12.0/15; D 12.2/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 73.0–93.0.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

2. Grimsby v Shrewsbury · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 60.2/100 · Confidence: Moderate pattern / low betting confidence.

Both clubs have produced two-goal matches in all five latest league games. Grimsby’s home strength contrasts with Shrewsbury’s weak away scoring, so this can require the home side to supply both goals. Shelton’s availability remains uncertain. Strong recent totals are not proof of a profitable price.

Assessed components: A 20.0/25; B 12.0/20; C 15.0/15; D 9.4/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 60.2–80.2.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

3. Rochdale v Swindon Town · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 60.1/100 · Confidence: Moderate pattern / low betting confidence.

Both teams clear the season-rate screen and the recent record is supportive. Swindon’s four away games produced no goals for them, so an Over may depend heavily on Rochdale scoring twice. Defensive absences could alter that balance, but cannot be translated into invented xG marks.

Assessed components: A 20.0/25; B 16.0/20; C 12.0/15; D 8.3/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 60.1–80.1.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

4. Gillingham v Newport · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 57.6/100 · Confidence: Low.

The venue goal environment supports research, but Newport’s recent rate sits at the 60% boundary, reducing the form marks. Reported international absences and suspension require a replacement-quality check. The weak recent away attack is a counterweight to the total-goal history.

Assessed components: A 20.0/25; B 16.0/20; C 9.0/15; D 8.8/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 57.6–77.6.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

5. Chesterfield v Tranmere · 12:30 BST

Assessed FIS 57.4/100 · Confidence: Moderate pattern / low betting confidence.

Recent two-goal involvement is strong, but the four-game venue profiles are less aggressive than the leading fixture. Chesterfield’s six-goal draw can make aggregate scoring look more stable than it is; the hit-rate component counts that match only once. Review the 12:30 lineup and actual price.

Assessed components: A 20.0/25; B 12.0/20; C 12.0/15; D 9.5/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 57.4–77.4.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

6. Crewe Alexandra v Bristol Rovers · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 47.3/100 · Confidence: Low.

Crewe’s five latest matches all reached two goals, but its season rate remains below 65%, which limits component A. Bristol Rovers’ recent sequence is mixed, and the earlier eight-goal game is a potential distortion. Crewe’s reported lack of shots on target last time is a further caution.

Assessed components: A 10.0/25; B 16.0/20; C 9.0/15; D 8.4/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 47.3–67.3.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

7. Salford City v Fleetwood · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 43.9/100 · Confidence: Very low.

Winning momentum does not automatically favour Over 1.5. Salford’s season hit rate carries the strategy’s below-60% rejection flag, and its home goal environment is restrained. A strong Fleetwood recent rate cannot rescue the weaker team profile. Pass on the available evidence.

Assessed components: A 10.0/25; B 12.0/20; C 9.0/15; D 9.1/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 43.9–63.9.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

8. Exeter City v Rotherham · 15:00 BST

Assessed FIS 33.0/100 · Confidence: Very low.

Exeter’s last-five Over 1.5 rate is below 60%, triggering the strategy’s hard recent-form rejection. Its low home goal total and reported scoring drought reinforce the decision. Rotherham’s more open season record cannot override that rejection.

Assessed components: A 10.0/25; B 8.0/20; C 3.0/15; D 8.1/15; F 3.83/5. E, G and H remain unassigned. The full-score range is 33.0–53.0.

Reported team context was reviewed in today’s earlier match reports and is not a confirmed starting XI. Final betting decision: no validated selection.

How the FIS was implemented

Your PDF fixes the component weights but leaves several numeric mappings discretionary. This report uses the following disclosed analyst mappings, without claiming they are additional rules in the PDF:

Component Maximum Implementation
A · Team hit rates 25 Both season rates ≥80%: 25; both ≥70%: 20; otherwise 10 when either <65%. A below-60% season rate retains the PDF rejection flag. Recent rates are assessed separately in C.
B · Venue goal profile 20 Mean of home and away venue total-goal averages: ≥3.00 gives 20; ≥2.50 gives 16; ≥2.00 gives 12; ≥1.50 gives 8; otherwise 4.
C · Last-five form 15 15 × the lower of the two latest-five O1.5 rates. A team below 60% triggers the PDF hard rejection. Counting hits rather than goal magnitude limits outlier influence.
D · Consistency 15 10 × mean of both teams’ season scoring-1+ and conceding-1+ frequencies, plus 5 × mean scoring-2+ and conceding-2+ frequencies.
E · xG / xGA 10 Unassigned: reliable underlying chance data unavailable.
F · League 5 5 × league O1.5 rate = 3.83.
G · Situation 5 Unassigned: official XI, tactical shape, conditions and material attacking absences not fully cleared.
H · Price / value 5 Unassigned: no calibrated O1.5 model plus executable quote verified.

The PDF thresholds apply to a completed score: 90+ Elite; 85–89 Very Strong; 80–84 Strong; 75–79 Watchlist; below 75 Reject. An incomplete subtotal is not automatically assigned one of those labels. A fixture whose upper bound stays below 80 cannot qualify under this implementation.

All relevant venue samples contain only four games. The PDF rejects a sample that is too small or distorted but does not define a numeric cutoff. Four-game splits and eight-game seasons are treated here as provisional, insufficient for validated selections. Confidence is Moderate only when the season, recent and venue patterns align; otherwise Low or Very low. It is not a calibrated event probability.

Pricing: the goal pattern still needs value

A retrieved Betfred Chesterfield–Tranmere market displayed full-match Over 1.5 at 2/9 = 1.222 decimal, requiring 81.82% break-even. The retrieved Coral Accrington goals page also displayed 2/9. These are snapshots without guaranteed executable availability or a bookmaker quote timestamp.

Some statistical pages supply standardised prices without a clear bookmaker. Those are not treated as execution quotes. First-half Over 1.5 and full-match Over 1.5 are different markets.

For a binary total: break-even = 1 / decimal odds; model expected return = probability × decimal odds − 1. The attached strategy requires a meaningful positive edge but does not prescribe a five-percentage-point minimum. No fixed five-point rule is imported from your other strategies.

Supplementary total-goals scenario

This calculation adds context; it is not xG, not a replacement for component E, and not calibrated confidence. Venue scoring/conceding rates are smoothed with eight league-average pseudo-matches, then used in an independent Poisson model.

Match Smoothed expected total Model O1.5 scenario
Accrington v Cheltenham 3.06 81.0%
Grimsby v Shrewsbury 2.40 69.1%
Rochdale v Swindon Town 2.55 72.2%
Gillingham v Newport 2.68 74.8%
Chesterfield v Tranmere 2.43 69.8%
Crewe Alexandra v Bristol Rovers 2.59 73.1%
Salford City v Fleetwood 2.26 65.9%
Exeter City v Rotherham 1.95 58.1%

For a venue rate, use (observed goals + 8 × relevant league baseline) / (4 + 8). Home λ = smoothed home GF × smoothed away GA / league home baseline; away λ uses away GF and home GA with the away baseline. Total λ is their sum. P(Over 1.5) = 1 − exp(−λ) × (1 + λ). Baselines are 148/94 home goals and 92/94 away goals per match.

The smoothing choice is an analyst sensitivity measure, not a prescribed PDF parameter. The model omits opponent adjustment, team selection, correlated low scores and game-state effects. A model percentage cannot be promoted to betting confidence merely because the arithmetic is correct.

Scope, accumulators and evidence

Eight scheduled games are covered, confirmed against Sky’s current fixture list. Colchester–Port Vale, Northampton–Oldham and Walsall–Crawley are postponed. Barnet–York moved to 27 October, per the official club notice. The statistics site’s calendar still lists original fixtures, so it was used for completed historical results rather than controlling today’s active card.

Your strategy permits accumulator legs only at 85+ completed FIS, with value and team news satisfactory. No accumulator qualifies from this incomplete scorecard. Do not use the possible upper limits as completed scores.

Evidence cutoff: completed league matches through 26 September 2026; fixture and market sources retrieved during the 3 October pre-match report. The 36 August and 58 September results reconcile to 94 matches, 240 goals and 72 Over 1.5 outcomes. Independently calculated team rates agree with the WinDrawWin season table. No results from today are included.

This report uses 1-5 goals(8).pdf as its strategy. Team-news context is inherited from the earlier linked Sports Mole / SportGrill previews for today’s matches; official lineups and reliable xG remain unavailable. Aggregation and ranking arithmetic were checked.
