Over/Under 2.5 Goals Analysis

All 12 fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 15 August 2026.

Prepared 15 August 2026, 10:28 UTC. Odds are a point-in-time DraftKings market snapshot published through ESPN’s structured EFL League Two feed; prices move and availability varies by jurisdiction. [3]

Executive conclusion

The current 2026/27 League Two goal sample is zero matches, so it cannot be used to apply the supplied home/away method validly. [2] The calculations therefore use the complete 2025/26 regular-season home and away samples for each club, while retaining the supplied rule: average the home side’s home Over 2.5 rate with the away side’s away Over 2.5 rate, then compare it with the market’s implied probability. [1]

Responsible-use note. This is probabilistic analysis rather than a guarantee or a prompt to gamble. The main market is opening-day football, and six teams change division in the historical comparison. Historical percentages and prices can both fail to predict a single match; only stake money you can afford to lose.

The underlying sample uses 23 home and 23 away league matches from the 2025/26 League Two season for both clubs. The edge is calculated before removing bookmaker margin, making the screen deliberately conservative.

Why York City v Bristol Rovers is not in the shortlist: its 20.7 pp Over 2.5 model edge is driven by York’s 87% National League home rate, but that is a cross-division transfer into League Two. It is therefore recorded in the fixture table but does not meet the high-confidence eligibility rule.

Fixture calculations

The table reports the exact comparison defined in the supplied strategy. Decimal odds are converted from the published American prices; implied probability is calculated as 100 ÷ decimal odds. “Edge” is the model probability less that unadjusted implied probability, in percentage points. Because no removal of bookmaker margin is applied, the comparison is conservative.

How to interpret the calculations

Historical sampleThe 23 home or 23 away regular-season league matches from 2025/26. Same-tier games use League Two data; promoted or relegated sides use their last league’s data, flagged as a transfer limitation.
Value thresholdA side qualifies mathematically when its model rate exceeds the market’s implied probability. This report adds an enhanced screen: the edge must be at least 5.0 pp and both historical samples must be from League Two.

Model-edge labels are Strong at 10.0 pp or more, Moderate from 5.0 to 9.9 pp, and Marginal from above 0 to 4.9 pp. The confidence screen is intentionally stricter than the underlying formula, reflecting a new-season sample of zero and the change-of-division risk in several fixtures.

Data notes and limitations

Fixture times and the 12-match slate were independently cross-checked against the BBC League Two scores and fixtures page. [2] The market prices are not an offer to the reader, may be unavailable locally, and can change after publication. The odds feed identifies a 2.5-goal total for every fixture; only the final listed price was used in the calculation. [3]

SoccerSTATS historical tables provide the home- and away-specific percentages from the 2025/26 regular season. League Two data were used where applicable, with League One and National League tables used only for clubs that entered League Two this season. [4] [5] [6] The current-season FootyStats table confirms that no 2026/27 matches had been played at the analysis time. [7]
