The evidence and the biggest risks

Core slips. Leverkusen had won all three league-phase matches without conceding, while Marseille had lost all three. Benfica had scored a competition-leading ten goals. Bournemouth had also won all three but needed an away win in Prague. FootyStats’ pre-match xG favoured Sunderland 2.38 to 1.42. Beşiktaş had seven points to Celtic’s zero, but needed an outright win at Celtic Park.

Higher-odds treble. Real Sociedad beat Lillestrøm 6–0 in their previous Europa League match, while Lyon lost 3–0 at Hoffenheim. Union Saint-Gilloise were unbeaten and had two wins by at least three goals, but were the longest-priced leg and faced the market favourite away.

Higher-odds four-fold. Viktoria Plzeň were the longest-priced leg, with FootyStats pre-match xG of 2.06 against Lillestrøm’s 1.41. Sturm Graz were the shortest-priced leg.

Favourite left out. AC Milan were 1.34 in the FootyStats snapshot. Ferencváros had won all three Europa League matches and Milan had lost two.

Prices and methodology

The three core slips use FootyStats prices retrieved at 07:14 GMT. The two higher-odds slips use OddsPortal comparison prices from separate checks. This explains the two prices shown for Beşiktaş. Combined prices are indicative and may differ from a bookmaker’s accumulator quote. Fixtures and league-phase form were checked against the UEFA Matchday 4 briefing.

Break-even percentages are the hit rates required at the quoted prices. The selections were made before line-ups were confirmed. The strategy’s 5% estimated edge per leg remains unverified. A losing leg in the core treble also defeats both core extensions.
